I’m Frieder, a designer from the south of Germany, now living in the rugged north of Scotland. As a product designer turned UX/UI designer with 8+ years experience I love making things no matter which side of the screen the resulting product ends up on.
Growing up in an artist household full of music, tools and crayons, a creative and hands-on approach has always been an important aspect to my life. Exploring all kinds of handcrafts and skills, I knew I wanted to combine my love for making things with the ambition to solve bigger problems.
I studied product design at the HS Coburg where I learned the skills needed to turn ideas and concepts into useful things in applied projects. To explore the depths of design theory, research paper writing and the translation complex theories into applicable solutions I continued my studies in the Master of Design program at the FH Potsdam.
After my degree I worked in Germany as a product and visual designer applying and further developing my skills in solving usability problems on industrial machinery and 3D modelling. When COVID hit I took a step back to evaluate my path as a designer so far which lead to co-founding HarriHarri, a creative collective for digital and landscape design.
I wanted to refine my skills in solving usability issues in digital projects so I completed a 6-month intensive course in User Experience Design at CareerFoundry. After relocating to Scotland in the end of 2020 I worked both as a freelancer for various companies in the North East and eventually as UX & digital lead for Fine Day Studio. Currently I'm a Senior UX designer with Waracle.
I like to do other stuff as well when not at my computer like exploring the natural beauty of Scotland with my dog, taking pictures of mountains, lighthouses and wildlife or trying out some new recipes in the kitchen at home.
I'm always open for new exciting projects and adventures, so drop me a message if you want to have a chat.
