About
Fine Day Studio project
Background
Grampian Hospitals Art Trust is a charity bringing art in the hospitals of the North East of Scotland. We built the virtual gallery 'Postcards from home - Seasons' to help them raising funds by displaying and selling postcard-sized artworks created by local artists.
Research
'Seasons' is the second instalment of 'Postcards from home' and was launched in 2023. As the first website was created during Lockdown and before I joined Fine Day I started with an in depth analysis of the previous version, gathered analytics data and user feedback to come up with a plan how to improve and streamline the platform.
Status quo
After talking to visitors of the previous instalment we established that the target audience is older than intitially expected. Some of the previous visitors had problems with navigating the 3D spaces on the website. To make the website as user friendly and accessible as possible we needed to address this issue.
User flows
In order to compare to assess the journey of the visitors through the website user flows for both the previous and the new approach were created. This helped us to plan out how to reduce the complexity of the gallery by cutting down the steps needed to find and purchase a postcard.
Wireframes
With quick iterations of wireframes we were able to establish a structure and layout concept for the new website.
Final outcome
Within the first seven days after launch, over 1000 people had vistited the gallery and almost half of the offered postcards were already sold.
A total of £8500 was raised to support the work of the Trust by selling the postcards through the gallery.
